Submission Guidelines

Thank you for considering WaterStone and sharing your work. We are delighted to hear from you.

We only accept submissions by email.

PLEASE DO NOT INCLUDE ANY ATTACHMENTS TO YOUR EMAILS UNLESS SOLICITED BY US. TO PROTECT OUR COMPUTERS FROM POTENTIAL VIRUSES, WE WILL NOT OPEN THEM.

1. FICTION: A thoughtful email describing the completed novel. Please no query attachments, include all your contact information in the online email query, addressed to: info@waterstoneagency.com

2. NONFICTION: A descriptive email query offering the questions you are raising in your proposal.  Please no query attachments, include all your contact information in the online email query, addressed to: info@waterstoneagency.com

Please allow at least two weeks for consideration of the query letter.

If we want to read your work, we will respond by email within 2 weeks. 

If we have interest in your nonfiction query, we will ask for a PDF proposal.

A proposal includes:• an introduction• an annotated table of contents (offers a sense of structure/outline of the project)• 40-60 pages from the work in progress • back matter: examples of other published articles, vita, and comparables (are there similar books?)

Market:  audience, what you bring to the table,  your promotion and publication strategy.

We assume you are contacting other agents.

Other tips (to put your best foot forward):

• Please make sure your manuscript is clean. Edit, edit, edit, and consider hiring a copyeditor to go through your manuscript before making submissions.

• Please be patient, it takes time to read.

• There is no reading fee.
